The Solid State Drive

The Solid State Drive

Hello,
I'm going to tell you something more about the solid state drive, also known as the SSD.
The SSD is another variant of the original hard drive.

The original hard drive loses its speed due its monopoliposition. The SSD uses non-volatile memories such as Flash of volatile memories such as SDRAM to save data.
The data is being saved electric and not magnetic such as the original hard drive.
This causes a huge speedup.

Advantages of the SSD:

- No mechanic parts, less noise.
- It takes less power.
- The reading and response time is very high.
- These hard drives are always up, no latency time.
- They are very reliable.

Disadvantages of the SSD:

- They are very expensive.
- The SSD is not faster in writing things.
- The SSD is not faster in deleting data.
- Wear: it never uses his full capacity. It releases 20% of it.
- A SSD loses its speed when it is used prequently.

A SSD is about as big as a notebook hard drive and it can only be connected with your pc with a SATA-connection.

IF YOU GOT SOME MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS, FEEL FREE TO ASK THEM.
THESE ARE ONLY THE BASICS AND THERE IS ALOT MORE TO LEARN ABOUT.
I'M NOT PERFECT AND THIS BLOG ISN'T TOO BUT I'M OPEN FOR SOME CRITISISM.
